Jim Gilley and Danny Shelton
« on: July 23, 2008, 12:06:36 PM »

Elder Jim Gilley, President of 3ABN, began his tenure at 3ABN and continues it by demonstrating unflagging support for Danny Shelton, former 3ABN President and currently in the position of 3ABN Founder.

Although it has been reported that many in Seventh-day Adventist Church leadership positions would rather see 3ABN continue as a ministry without the association of Danny Shelton, Jim Gilley does not feel this way about it.

In the March, 2008, edition of 3ABN World, Jim Gilley explains how their founder, Danny Shelton, went through the process of selecting the 2008 3ABN theme, "New Beginnings".

Jim Gilley's editorial in the April issue states, "When Danny Shelton started this ministry he was told over and over again, “It can’t be done!” But he moved forward by faith...".

In speaking of the Ten Commandments weekend in the May issue, 3ABN World, Jim Gilley says, "...Danny Shelton saw a great opportunity to point people all over the world to God's often forgotten Law of Love, the Ten Commandments".

Danny Shelton's position in the 3ABN universe, solidly supported by Jim Gilley, seems secure indeed.

It appears that DS's position has been set in stone (by some, anyway).

I alaways used to receive '3abn World', but that ceased about 6 or so months ago. I wonder why that was? I didn't request to cease it.

Speaking of 3ABN World, I am still looking for the 9/04, 11/04, and 8/05 issues. 3ABN and Danny don't want to give them to me. Anyone got any copies?

Don't they have an online version of that on their website?

Not those issues of 3ABN World. They aren't there and haven't been for a long time. Why aren't they there?

Did anyone that works at 3abn or Danny himself tell you that they didn't want you to have them?  If not how did you come to that conclusion?

I have to chuckle when I see the phrase "it has been reported"....    By whom was that reported?  Joy and Pickle?  Snoopy?  You? Or maybe you got it from your cousins brother's sister in law's father?

Sorry to disappoint you but I saw and heard quite the opposite while visiting the TC weekend at 3abn in May. I had plenty of time to mingle with those attending as well as the pastors, speakers and guests.  I heard over and over again how much everyone wanted Danny back on the air full time instead of just part time. THey were thrilled that he took such a large part in the campmeeting/TC event.  I heard many people say that Jim was great, but 3abn was Danny. Pastor Jim told me himself his hope is that after Danny has had a well earned rest, he hopes for him to come back to his former position.

Sam, you may be out there like Pluto on many things, but I agree with you on the above. You have hit the nail on the head here. I have no doubt that many people would love to see Danny back full time on the air, and that they want very  much to have him back in the seat of power. Danny has been, and is, what many people want more than anything. He has long been the central figure of their spiritual lives and without his presence there is a spiritual vacuum in their souls. Cults of personality are nothing new. History is rich with the dynamic of the person who needs to be adored and followed, and the myriad sycophants who must adore and follow.

Was Pastor Jim referring to Danny's former position as President of 3ABN?

The people I talked with did not give me the impression at all that they were "myriad sycophants".  Quite the opposite. They were down home type christian people who like to feel like they are part of the 3abn family. Why?  Because Danny and a lot of the 3abn crew don't put on airs, act snobby or formal.  Instead Danny and his family have given 3abn the comfortable down home feel.  They themselves have been raised in a rural area their whole lives. They were poor, they don't have college educations and guess what?  People love it.  Contrary to what you said, people love that Danny doesn't act like some kind of guru that has all the answers of life.  You know that from personal experience. You just get some kind of kick out of slamming him and the people at 3abn.  That's ok.  For every one of "your kind"  there are 1000 others that feel just the opposite and they prove it by their financial support and prayers everyday.

Having said that, let's assume that you were right and all 3abn supporters are "myriad sycophants". (how ridiculous) Why blame Danny for that?  He can't help how people think or act, good or bad.  That's why these forums are such a laugh at times as everthing anyone says or does is blamed on Danny.  If I say something you don't like you all say "See that's how Danny's "people" are.     I am not Danny's person.  I am just me and have no one's opinion except my own. I'm just A struggling christian trying to live for Jesus and one of my ways for doing that is to defend God's ministry.  Simple.

I'm just A struggling christian trying to live for Jesus and one of my ways for doing that is to defend God's ministry.

You're not coming across that way. You're coming across as if you are more interested in defending vile sin than in defending God's ministry.

God doesn't molest boys. He doesn't cover up child molestation allegations by attributing them to an allegedly jealous man who lived 800 miles away until more than 8 years later. He doesn't lie, the Bible makes that clear. He doesn't hire lawyers to bully people who are concerned about child molestation allegations.

And last of all, God refuses to forgive people who refuse to confess.

Now if you were really interested in defending God's ministry, you would not defend the very things God hates. You would instead oppose that which tarnishes God's ministry.

That's my opinion.
