Dear Friends and Loved Ones,

Today it is with a grieving heart I share that my dear sister Emberly past away unexpectedly on Sabbath evening August 11 @ 5:55 pm. We don't know why. But were told she had unexplained and sudden swelling to her brain.

Memorial for Emberly Elisabeth Benton Blake will be held at the Lakeport Seventh Day Adventist Church on September 22 at 3:00 pm

The picture below was taken just a few weeks ago at Leone Meadows Family Camp, where she enjoyed a wonderful week of vacation with her husband and children and Sister Audrey and her family. They all had a very enjoyable time together. She was doing so well.

The week following family camp brought to Lake County the largest fire in the history of California. Three days fire threatened our homes before it moved on. We are still smothering in smoke.

Then Wednesday night August 8th Emberly started having very bad head aches. Do to the fires the Lakeport Hospital was closed. Thinking highway 20 to Ukiah was closed also we rushed Emberly to the Clearlake Adventist Health Hospital were they did and MRI and could not see anything amiss. They kept her over night to hydrate her with IV's and sent her home the next morning. Her head aches were relieved.

But again Thursday night August 9 her head aches returned and she went unconscious. This time we rushed her to the Ukiah Adventist Health Hospital. They quickly put her on life support and did an MRI. We were told she was in a coma. said it looked very grim. Not having a Nero Surgeon on staff they could not tell us what her condition was or advice us on what to do for her other than suggesting she be sent to another hospital asap. She was Air lifted to UCFS where they pronounced her brain dead.

Sabbath morning 18 family members gathered in her room for a season of prayer, hymns and tears to say our last goodbyes as we committed Emberly into our Loving Heavenly Fathers arms.

This has been a very emotional time for all of us, especially for her loving husband Jason, and oldest son Jeremiah age 17, son Josiah, age 14, and only daughter age 12.

If you wish to send your condolences to Emberly's children and husband, you may do so at P.O.Box 483, Lakeport, CA, 95453

UPDATE: Emberly DID NOT lose the battle with Cancer. She was 14 months cancer free and no brain tumor. Autopsy revealed inflammation of cerebral tissue leading to spontaneous brain swelling.

Just read this terrible tragic news after reading a much more favourable update back in February from Linda Shelton on her Facebook page, however, after searching for a more recent update, I came across this sad news.

One lovely thought though is that she will awaken to eternal newness of life on the Resurrection Day. :)
