A Study on the Role of Women in the Home and the Church

The subject of women's ordination is a hot topic right now in the Seventh-day Adventist church, especially in light of recent actions by several unions to proceed with ordaining women regardless of world church polity. It seems that everywhere we turn these days church members are discussing, debating and even arguing this issue. The issue has become so contentious in some areas that churches are about to split!
 
The issues at stake with this may be more important than many church members realize as there are consequences to every decision and action in the Great Controversy.
 
There are many questions to be answered not only about issues and consequences, but what are the Biblical ramifications? Is this simply a "cultural" issue as many claim? Or is it much more? These questions must be clearly answered before one can know where to stand. Knowing where to stand in the last days on issues can be critical to our salvation.
 
This 5 hour series is packed with clear, insightful information that reveals the roots of this issue, traces them through history and discovers how they may affect our church in the light of final events!

Statement regarding equality and ordination

According to the Seventh Day Adventist Church´s belief in creation, as witnessed in the Bible, God has created mankind – man and woman – in His image and therefore equal.

Because of sin, God instituted a special priesthood reserved for men. This special priesthood with its sacrifices and functions found its fulfillment in Jesus Christ. There is no longer any special priesthood. Jesus Christ is our only true priest, the exalted high priest in the true temple in heaven. Now all have free access to God (Hebrews 4-5).

All of Christ's followers – both men and women – were lifted up to be a "chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, to declare His praises" (1 Peter 2:9).

This royal priesthood has a common purpose, namely to proclaim the gospel.

This ministry is based on the spiritual gifts which the Holy Spirit gives equally to men and women (1 Chor 12). Paul mentions some specific grace based ministries in the Church, including apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds (i.e. pastors), and teachers (Eph 4:7-16).

With background in this biblical understanding, the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Denmark will not distinguish between genders when appointing pastors, and wishes to see equality between genders in all areas of responsibility. As a result, the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Denmark will suspend the ordaining of any new pastors until the General Conference session in 2015.

The question has nothing to do with equality, but rather Gods differenct role for men verses women. Men cannot bear children in the womb but I would not consider that a reason as being unequal in Gods site. The sermons were spot on, they brought to light the ultimate diception of Satan. ----my spell check is not working, oow

The whole point is the understanding of the Sanctuary Service, something too many Adventists are forgetting today.
