A headline in a Danish newspaper (Berlingske) today:

Stelton afviser forhandling med kinesiske »banditter«

in English:

Shelton Rejects Negotiations with Chinese Thugs

  http://www.business.dk/detail/stelton-afviser-forhandling-med-kinesiske-banditter

Johann, I usually don't have any arguments with your posts, but I translated this link in Google, and it has nothing to do with Shelton, just Stelton.  Maybe you are just being funny ;)

I wondered who would be the first to catch this. Don't we all need some humor in between?

In Denmark there is a business that is called Shelton, and they have a patent on their name. Some Chinese have stolen their trade name but the Danish Shelton do not see any sense in following in the steps of their American namesake by suing them. That is what the news is all about.

Johann, to add to the humor/confusion, I came across the following--

Quote

Christian Network Sued In Child-sex Case

Three Angels Broadcasting Network, or 3ABN, and the Rev. Tommy Shelton, the hermit of the network’s owner Danny Shelton, were declared in the censure filed by complainant Alex Walker, of Mattoon.

The fit accuses 3ABN of negligence, claiming leaders were wakeful of the hazard Shelton acted to children.

In matter expelled by 3ABN, the network mentioned Shelton had no reason to advance in to meeting with Walker, who was keenly supervised by Walker’s comparison brother.

“3ABN does not think that the claims against it have any merit,” the matter said. “We intend to energetically urge the great name of the organization.”
.....
.....

In response, the network has sued the organisation for insult of disposition and heading infringement.

“It’s against the conviction to lie,” mentioned Bob Pickle, one of the defendants in that lawsuit. “It’s against the conviction to hurt children. The thought of no answerability has the future for creation my conviction look bad.”

I understand satire, but this stumped me.  Can anyone help me out as to what is happening here?

Sorry, couldn't resist adding this, too.

According to the polite fit filed Monday, Shelton, a priest consecrated by the Church of God, was dangling by that description in 1985 assumingly after passionate abuse allegations against him surfaced...

After Walker’s hermit tied together Shelton’s daughter, he said, he visited the couple and Shelton in Virginia in 1997. Walker mentioned Shelton abused him on bike rides at the back the chapel where he worked during a two-month time period.

My guess is it is a translation from somewhere where they speak English a little differently from US.  Wonder where they call a brother a hermit?  No clues on the page that I could find.

Or just avoiding being sued if they use plain English?

PRESS RELEASE
For immediate release - Monday, June 20, 2011

Three Angels Broadcasting Network, or "3ABN" for short, is a not-for-profit Christian ministry dedicated to the concept of "Mending Broken People".  Based in West Frankfort, Illinois, it operates television and radio stations around the world, as well as an Internet site on which can be found numerous programs and guidance on topics ranging from spiritual to practical, .....

"...nor is the Church of God denomination affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist denomination in any way."

Says who? 3ABN? What party are they to the relationship of the SDA church with the COG? Is 3ABN the spokesman for these groups? They are a third party in relation to them. Why this opinion in a press release?

Regarding the phrase "in any way": the COG is not affiliated with 3ABN "in any way" or the COG with the SDA church "in any way". So, why not use the same phraseology to describe 3ABN's relationship with the SDA church? Why not say "3ABN is not affiliated in any way with the SDA denomination."? Why use the term "no formal affiliation"? Is it because the SDA church has had its employees sit on 3ABN's board and vice versa? What about the Conference campmeetings at 3ABN? "Pastor" John Lomacang? What about all the money they get from ASI and the church?
One gets the feeling that they're more worried about getting a lawsuit from the SDA church than from Walker for sullying the church's good name, what with 3ABN's poor behavior.

"...attorneys representing Alex Walker sent a letter to 3ABN claiming that Tommy Shelton, a former employee of 3ABN, had sexually abused Mr. Walker when he was a teenager, ..."

Even though I have not read the filing by Walker's attorneys, I would be very, very surprised if they used the language "teenager" (as 3ABN says they did) to describe Mr. Walker when he was allegedly abused. Someone eighteen or nineteen in a "teenager", and so is a sixteen year old boy. But the hint is given that he could have been of the age of majority i.e. eighteen or over. Since I believe it is the case with Mr. Walker that he was between the ages of 11 and 15 when the abuse occurred, 3ABN's statement that he was just a "teenager" seems incorrect. My guess is that the court filing uses the term "minority" i.e. Walker was a minor when the abuses occurred.

"Tommy Shelton left his position with the Church of God at some point and was re-hired by 3ABN..."

This is funny: "at some point"????  Like, nobody at 3ABN knows when that happened and more importantly WHY he left the COG? And what was the legacy he left behind? Abuse, abuse, abuse anyone?

..."as an employee of 3ABN, Tommy Shelton's duties never caused him to have contact with Alex Walker."

It's a little like saying "John Q. Public from Accounting never had reason or cause to be in the Shipping Dept., so we know it wasn't he who stole the cases of literature and the forklift."
If this is the extent of 3ABN's defense that Tommy's duties never should have caused him to have contact with Alex well..... good luck with that!

SDAminister:

Reading this press release makes me sick.  It is evident in the way they turned and twisted things to fit their own desires.  75% of what is posted in this release is garbage.

Sorry, but I had to laugh at their response. Oh, Alex has been receiving emails regarding making statements about Brad.  Let me say for the record, so all knows- Brad Wilson Walker was caught in an adulterous afair with Tammy Larson. The same Tammy Larson who had an afair with a certain Scott Grady. Incidently, Scott was fired by 3abn, yet Brad and Tammy are still employed. Make since? Of course it don't. There you go Brad. Sue me!

Just checking--Brad Wilson Walker is the adult brother?

"...Alex Walker, who was closely supervised during the few weeks of employment at 3ABN by his own adult brother."

Yes, the same brother who supposedly watched me! While he was doing the work of "god" or "3ABN" on the road; he and Tammy was caught fooling around under the sheets.

I'm wondering if it was written in a different language and then translated back into English using some type of inaccurate software.

But...a very funny result...

I looked into it a little further and found that it comes from an internet domain originating in Cocos (Keeling) Islands, an Australian territory.

The site indicates that it has to do with internet/marketing/wireless and other related.  The rest of the site has the same strange language.

What I'm wondering is how the 3ABN news item happened to become one of their subjects.  I also noticed that they mixed up
Bob and Gailon's lawsuit with the present one.

I was told by a Church of God (Anderson) preacher that in the past they've been really big on prophecy like Adventists, preaching it similar to the way we do.

The press release says that the Adventist Church and the Church of God (Anderson) are as different as the Baptist Church is from the Catholic Church. Is that true?

I think we need to copy the full article from http://network-earth.co.cc/ here for posterity. It seems like it has to be a joke.

Walker mentioned he originally met Shelton in 1997 during a two-month revisit to Virginia, where Shelton served as a pastor. Shelton right away faces crook charges in Virginia’s Fairfax County scored equally to Walker’s and other man’s abuse allegations.

According to the polite fit filed Monday, Shelton, a priest consecrated by the Church of God, was dangling by that description in 1985 assumingly after passionate abuse allegations against him surfaced. He one after another to work for Ezra Church of God until the early 1990s.

Shortly after leaving, he proposed working a accumulation of jobs for 3ABN, the fit says, finally relocating to Virginia.

After Walker’s hermit tied together Shelton’s daughter, he said, he visited the couple and Shelton in Virginia in 1997. Walker mentioned Shelton abused him on bike rides at the back the chapel where he worked during a two-month time period.

In 2001, Walker mentioned his hermit got him a part-time job in the prolongation subdepartment of 3ABN in West Frankfort, where Shelton then worked. The abuse one after another for a year, according to the suit.

In 2008, Walker went to law coercion in Virginia, where there is no government of stipulations on passionate abuse allegations. Herman mentioned they would inform the allegations in Illinois to sovereign authorities.

The 3ABN network is dependent with the Seventh-day Adventist Church. A Seventh-day Adventist organisation called Save-3ABN has combined a website rigorous clarity and answerability from the network. It has posted countless letters and papers that show the network was wakeful of allegations against Shelton decades ago.
