I was merely giving you an idea of how some of the friends of the Republicans evaluate the present situation. You might not agree with them, and that is your right.

This question might be a difficult one:

If you were a minister of the Gospel and a Democrat would request baptism, would you demand  he become a Republican before he could be baptized?

Or if your political conviction is the opposite, would you require a Republican baptismal candidate become a Democrat before he could be baptized?

Is it difficult for Republicans and Democrats to enjoy fellowship together in the same church?

(smile) first of all I would not ever be a pastor because I am a woman. a helper yes, a worker yes, a teacher maybe, a listener yes, but this question in this political mess is neither irrevelant anymore for either party. It makes no difference whether you are republican or democrat to be baptised. The difference to be baptised is whether you follow the example of living, giving and the doing the commandmants of Jesus and show his love and care.

Johann, the system is corrupted everywhere and each party. Really what is happening is the Nation is taking sides "containg" the names of Republican or Democrat under the banners now of conservative or liberal. Sorry to say but it seems that the liberals are taking the side of ones own opinions narrowing down to "Share the wealth forcefully and the conservative are taking the side "share the wealth voluntarily". To me it no longer seems that it is just a politial division when religious division is coming into play big time from a couple of different angles.

But if a person was to be baptised into SDA, I am sure their desires would be in unity. Unity is the key to it for all SDA. So if there are some that become very liberal --the wheat and tares will soon be discovered as time goes on and usually the unconverted lead off into the liberal agenda of justifications and their own likings whether they be Republicans or Democrats.  You know the Democrats long time ago did have a good agenda. Times have changed and the separation of people are beginning to show to the far left and to the far right. I know exactely what the far right will do in the end. But the far left is already doing it.... So I do not worry about that except once they get baptised into the message and leave it or change it,,,,,you know the story. Sad. Either way we are in for the "prophecy". All I know is we are to fight for liberty until the end.

 I think most Christians tend not to discuss politics that are very heated within the church. We agree to disagree Politics can get very heated, in the US,as if you haven't noticed by reading on these sites.  I come from 2 families- my fathers side was staunch Democrats and my Mothers side was staunch Republicans. Each believed that their side was for the common poor people. Obviously, someone was wrong- but neither could be persuaded- funny thing is both were from WV and both were from the  same County

As far as baptizing - I don't think that's a question any pastor asks- as least I wasn't asked that- of course I was baptised as a Church of God and my husband was baptized as a Baptist

I just return from overseas in Kenya for three weeks. It is normal for the politician to lay all the blame at the feet of the person in office in hopes that he will get elelcted. WHat is so amazing now is the fact that the very same corruption will go on after the election because most people cannot see someone trying to make things  better if their eye is blinded by things outside the issue. How stupid is it for a Christian  to complain about providing healthcare for people that in most cases work harder than the normal American.

Kenya, right? The roots of the American President...now, just how does Kenya fund health-care...and is it equally available, or do they have to wait for the missionary plane, boat or other traveling generous foreign medical missionaries? And have you noticed the life expectancy? Even of babies? And children? And how about the AIDS issue???

It is preposterous for someone to claim that healthcare has not been available to the entire populous, legal and otherwise, since the creation of the Hill-Burton Medical Facility funding program. And frankly the old doc's tried their best to make medical services available to everyone in town prior to that.

Having worked in an Emergency Room for five years, I can tell you that in the 1970's we provided care to every person who walked up to the desk or was carried in on a litter, regardless of race, sex, religion, age, sexual preference or economic status, and many did not have ANY insurance card. Our illegals were more likely canadians, frequently coming into the US for REAL medical care, from improperly set "collies fractures" to mis-diagnosis of cancer and other diseases, or to get care a bit faster than the waiting line in Three Rivers, Montreal and Quebec..

I would much prefer the prior "free choice" medical care program than a medical care program that is sure to leave us relying upon some bloody government bureaucrat to determine if care is available and if I am worth saving. And the cost of healthcare is about to sky-rocket while this joker from Kenya redistributes healthcare, wealth and freedom!!! I propose that we redistribute him back to his roots so he can better appreciate American Freedoms.

Perhaps you misunderstood what I was trying to say. First, I was only referring to Kenya as the reason I have not been on here (advent talk) for a while. Secondly I never said anything about Kenya's health care system. And you would be an idiot if you ever thought I said that people could not get medical care here in America. SECONDLY, YOU WOULD BE AND IDOIT IF YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE ALWAYS MAKING FREE CHOICE FOR MEDICAL CARE, THOSE DAYS ARE LONG GONE. PRESENTLY THE INSURANCE COMPANIES DETERMINE HOW LONG AND HOW MUCH TREATMENT IS APPROPRIATE.
And your racist statement of the fact that the Presidents roots are in Kenya actually have no bases of fact as to his political persuasion or way of Governing. As for Kenya they do not provide free or Governmental Health care, nor has anyone ever implied anyting of that nature.

Interesting, you must have citizenship for both countries to vote. ? I thought maybe you were just Norwegian and here for a while working for SDA. or maybe the other way around American and living there. Only been out of country once to SA but vowed I would never leave these shores again. Don't like the volcanos, the ocean or want to touch anything in it, or the mountains whats in it. (laugh). Guess we might be in the "earthquake" area but had very very little.  Just so attached to the "little" hilly or flat plains of corn, golden wheat and smelling the hay and freshly plowed earth.
