Prayer request for Muslim woman
« on: July 22, 2008, 01:16:36 PM »

This is an urgent prayer request for a precious sister-in-Christ who is suffering great persecution.  I will withhold her name and whereabouts, as it could create a life-and-death situation.  She lives in a Muslim country.

About 18-24 months ago, she was a college professor who began watching 3ABN on the Internet to improve her English.  Her heart was converted and she accepted Christ as her Savior.  The college insisted she work Saturdays, so she resigned her position that she might honor the Lord’s Sabbath.  She kept her conversion a secret from her Muslim husband and everyone else except her 12-year-old son, who also accepted Christ as Savior and Lord.

She had opportunity to visit a small Adventist church in her area, comprised of less than 30 members (all foreigners).  Soon her parents discovered the truth and revealed it to her husband, encouraging him to beat her.  This dear sister has endured nearly two years of beating and is basically under “house arrest.”  She has been denied food and access to the outside world, with her husband locking her in the home and disconnecting the Internet.  Church members have slipped her provisions and also Bible promises (and a phone card, by which she contacted me at 3ABN).
Within the first few months of the beatings, she was able to leave her
home once to visit the local magistrate and share her story.  She was  advised that she had grounds for a divorce; but, as a Christian, she would not be permitted custody of her children.  Her baby girl is only 2 years old, so our dear sister determined to suffer this lifestyle for another sixteen years—until her daughter turns eighteen.
Her situation has taken an even more dramatic turn.  Her husband is trying to have her committed to a nationally-run mental institution.  He does not want the children.  They would be placed in an orphanage or foster care. The only alternative to denying Christ would be to join the Catholic Church (the only officially recognized “Christian” religion in her country). She refuses to do this!
Please earnestly pray God will intervene in this situation in a miraculous way and deliver her and the children from the pit.  Our sister has shown remarkable loyalty and dedication to Almighty God.  I pray we would all do likewise under such circumstances.  May He bless all who intercede on her behalf!
