400 years with the King James Version of the Bible

The King James Version of  the Bible was published 1611, and is regarded as the most influential book ever published. We must thank God for that.

The king hired  47 scholars towards the end of 1604 to work on the translation. They would not get paid for the work, but the king ordered the bishops to give those men a priority when lucrative positions became vacant. The scholars were told to translate the text so that it would be in harmony with the doctrines of the Church of England, and they were not to take the teachings of the Puritans into any serious consideration in the wording of their translation.

Is it any wonder that other translations have seen the light of day later on, where the translators could base the text on the original manuscripts without having to take the doctrines of the [Catholic] Church of England into consideration?

The information above is based on news from a local Bible Society.

Bibles are translation!  They are not perfect!  To understand it more fully you need to read the history of that time frame.  Why don't more people read what EGW says about the Bible?  My books are still boxed in the garage.  So I don't have book and page to post.  Hope to move them to MN this fall.

Quote
James gave the translators instructions intended to guarantee that the new version would conform to the ecclesiology and reflect the episcopal structure of the Church of England and its belief in an ordained clergy.[9] The translation was done by 47 scholars, all of whom were members of the Church of England.[10]

Much of the KJV is based upon the work of William Tyndale. So Tyndale's translation was so good, the KJV scholars couldn't find ways to improve it in many cases.

Johann, conclusory statements aren't that helpful. What would be much better is a concrete example. At the very least, could you please give the quote from p. 439 of The Bible in English that WikiPedia references?

I suspect that the quote concerns the status of clergy in a church having an episcopal form of government, which has little relevance to the matter you are trying to support.
