Retired seminary professor C. Raymond Holmes tied the issue of women's ordination with the issue of the acceptance of homosexual behavior in his book, The tip of an iceberg: Biblical authority, biblical interpretation, and the ordination of women in ministry.
These two issues can be separated if one can come up with a non-cultural explanation of Paul's statements on the role of women, which explanation allows for the ordination of women to the gospel ministry. Without such an explanation, they cannot be separated and still adequately address the concerns of those who oppose women's ordination on a biblical basis.
