Yielding allegiance, glad hear-ted and free
This is the pathway of blessing for me.

O, Jesus Lord and Savior, I give myself to thee.
For thou, in Thy Atonement, didst give Thyself for Me.
I own no other Master, my heart shall be Thy throne.

My life I give henceforth to live, O Christ for Thee alone.
Living for Jesus who died in my place,
Bearing on Calvary my sin and disgrace;
Such love constrains me to answer his call,
Follow his leading and give him my all.

3)

"Dare To Be a Daniel"
Text: Daniel 1: 8-21 and Daniel 6: 1-10

1. The Bible is filled with accounts of many Godly men and women who are examples for us to follow.

...2. One such person is Daniel, a man who obtained preeminence in his lifetime.

a. Started out premint among Children of Israel.
b. Gained preeminence among wise men of Babylon.
c. Was given power over all Babylon
d. Received similar power over the medo Persian empire.

3. How was Daniel able to reach these positions of power and influence without compromising his position as a Godly man?

4. A close look at the book of Daniel reveals his secrets, and shows us how we too can be sucessful without selling our souls.

I. Daniel was a man of PURPOSE.

A. Daniel "purposed in his heart." Dan 1:8
1. A young man in a strange land, Daniel was immediately faced with a challenge to violate God's law by eating the King's food.
2. Despite his youth and the obvious pressure to conform Daniel "purposed in his heart" to uphold the law of God, no matter the cost.
3. Because of his willingness to put God first, God granted Daniel favor in the sight of others.

B. EVERY CHILD OF GOD NEEDS TO BE A PERSON OF PURPOSE
1.No one respects a "wishy-washy" person, someone with no direction in their lives.
2. Where as strong sense of purpose often breeds respect and admiration in others.
3. What should be the purpose of the Christian?
a. Jesus makes it clear in Matt 6: 33.

"But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
b. Seek the will of God and fulfill it in our lives, no matter the circumstances.
4. As Jesus, promised this will guarantee God's favor towards us and in turn likely gain us favor in the eyes of those around us.

II Daniel was a man of Principle.
A. He refused to compromise his convictions....
1. As a young man, by refusing to eat the king's meat or drink his wine.
2. As an old man by refusing gifts of Belshazzar.
3. Under threat of persecution, be refusing to obey the decree of Darius.

B. PEOPLE ADMIRE PERSONS OF PRINCIPLE:
1. Outwardly, they may ridicule them, but inwardly they wish they had the same intestinal fortitude.
2. And when they need someone who can be trusted, and depended upon to carry through with an assigned task. Who do you think they will turn too?
3. God also admires individuals who will stand by their principle, and by their words.

---Our society is in need of people with principle. Those who "Dare to be a Daniel.", and demonstrate by example the value of being led by "principle" rather than by "price". are not only highly valued by God but also to their fellow man.

But having purpose and principle is not all; another element for true success is needed.

II. Daniel was a man of Purity.
A. His opponents could NOT find any fault.
1. He was faultless when it came to management of his business affairs.
2. This would help explain his rise to positions of great responsibility and power.
3. Of course his purity in business affairs was related to:
a. His overall purpose to Please God first.
b. And the fact as a man of principle he could be trusted.
4. People who maintain purity in their dealings with others are often given positions of great responsibility and privilege, because they can be trusted to use them wisely.

IV. Daniel was a man of Prayer
A. A glimpse of his Prayer life--Dan 6:10
1. He knelt in prayer- demonstrated his humility
2. He prayed three times a day- demonstrated his gratitude to the fact he had not lost sight of God's blessings.
B. Christians would do well to Follow Daniels example:

If our efforts to live purposeful, principled and pure lives are not what they should be, could a undisciplined "prayer life" be the reason?

4)
"Power in Prayer"
2 Corinthians 12 6-10

I. Sometimes prayer is not answered the way we want.
A. Paul asked that the thorn in the flesh be removed; the answer was the grace to endure it.
... B. We should pray that the Lord's will be done.
C. Pray earnestly.
D. Moses asked to be permitted to cross the Jordan; the answer was permission to view the Land of promise. (Deuteronomy 3: 23-37)

II. Pray for your enemies.
Matthew 5:44- But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despite-fully use you, and persecute you.

A. Hard thing to do.
B. Shows Character.

III. Pray for soul winners.
The harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few, Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest. (Matthew 9)

A. Church needs workers
B. Harvest is Ripe.

IV. Prayers are unanswered sometimes because of unbelief
A. Matthew 17: 16-21
B. Lack of trust
C. Lack of faith
D. Prayer and fasting go together

V. Church should be a place of prayer.
Matthew 21:13- And said unto them, it is written, my house shall be called the place of prayer, but ye have made it into a den of thieves.

VI. Prayer makes us strong
Matthew 26:41-- Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation, the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak.

VII. Pray always.
Pray without ceasing-- 1 Thessalonians 5:17
