Title: Tommy to be sentenced Monday, November 15, 2010
Post by: Bob Pickle on November 09, 2010, 12:13:20 PM
That's what I hear. The sentencing is now set for November 15.

All this bouncing around must be stressful for Tommy.

Probably not as stressful as it is and was for his victims!

I'm glad I cannot relate to the stress and turmoil his victims have endured for so many years.

On the other hand, Tommy now knows what it feels like to be "under the law." He should have thought twice before being involved in the effort to sue us for blowing the whistle on Danny's cover up of the allegations against him.

What we reap we sow, and so in God's providence Tommy now knows what it feels like to be served and summoned, to have to face a judge, and to perhaps have less money to pay for lawyers than the other side has.

But the pain his victims have endured causes all this to appear quite little in contrast.

I heard the same information...at least as far as the sentencing goes.  Cannot confirm Tommy's emotional state...

Let's all pray that this molestor is sentenced to a long prison sentence.

He and his brother are bad men.

It's not God's will that any children get molested and if Tommy is not imprisoned, he will molest again and again...

Alex, A confirmation from you is as good as it can get.   :) You are in my prayers.  I sure hope it is not delayed again.  However, God is in control.

Bob, please elaborate on this comment.  How was TS involved in suing you?

Di, of course he was involved. He didn't want his past known.

Tommy sent an open letter to the Dunn Loring church in early 2007, saying that Glenn Dryden and Gailon would be taken to court.

Also, I heard that Tommy was involved early on with the law firm.

Ok, so you heard he ws involved, and he had knowledge that youw ere going to be sued?  So, now God is punishing him for his part in the law suit?   Are you not sure that as with any other sin, he is suffering the natural consequences of his unfortunate choices?  I mean should he not be in this same position if there never was a law suit?

Of course. Nevertheless, he now knows what it feels like to be "under the law."

What about this monetary demand against Danny and his co-conspirators that tried to subvert justice? What's happening with that?

Don't know. But I've been thinking that it might be good to let everyone know that 3ABN could possibly use some extra donations to pay for attorneys and to compensate Tommy's victims.

Bob: Do you have a copy of that letter?

It took a lot of searching, but I found a link to a post where Pickle posted the text from the Tommy's open letter.  I did not take the time to read it all yet, but it is interesting in light of Tommy's recent plea of GUILTY.

Whew!  That was a long letter!

Interesting to see that Tommy planned to have the backing of the Illinois Seventh-day Adventist Conference President..."By next week I will have in hand an official statement from the Illinois Conference President of SDA..."

Tommy even brings up the alleged murder of Danny Shelton's first wife, by Danny himself.

Who was the Illinois SDA Conference President at that time (February, 2007)?

I am still at a loss, as to why the Woods, would allow anyone, with even a hint of impropriety to come to Dunn Loring. Surely there were other preachers available. someday when all this is over, I am going to talk to them. I hope I can get an answer I can live with...

That's what I hear. The sentencing is now set for November 15.
Does anyone know why the date was moved up?  This seems opposite to what typically happens with court dates.  The judge must have his mind made up and is ready to let his decision be known.

Let's also pray that the people who have attempted to keep these crimes hidden and away from the reach of justice be punished thoroughly and accordingly for putting many more children in Virginia and Illinois at risk for harm from predator Tommy Shelton.

  • Let's pray for Judge Randy Bellows to make a God honoring and fearing decision on Friday.
  • Let's pray that Alex and the other gentleman feel that the decision to come forward was one that was worth it no matter what the judge rules and that they feel no shame.
  • Let's pray that Tommy feels the full weight of what he has done over the years and that he truly repents and makes himself accountable to a God fearing person everywhere he goes.  ["...repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds." Acts 26:20]
  • Let's pray that all of the other abuse victims know that they are sons of God no matter the outcome and that they come forward and take a stand against the unjust abuse that has happened to them, along with the brave ones that have already came forward.
  • Let's pray for the countless others that Tommy may not have physically abused, but groomed them by using scriptures and inappropriate comments to try to prove that his twisted and perverted view of men is correct, in order to ultimately abuse them. (How many has he used the relationship of David and Jonathan to try to convice them that men should be more intimate and that they should allow him, a "prophet of God," to experiment with them?)
  • More than anything, let's pray that God's sovereignty be magnified in VA, IL and to the ends of the earth!
